This painting was inspired by my time walking the Great Ocean Walk, where the Aire River quickly became one of my favourite places along the trail. After hours of hiking, arriving at this beautiful freshwater river felt like discovering a hidden sanctuary. The still water, surrounding bushland, and opportunity for a refreshing swim made it a place I wanted to linger and soak in. Through this artwork, I wanted to capture not only the beauty of the landscape but also the feeling of being there—the sense of peace, accomplishment, and wonder that comes from immersing yourself in nature. The weathered jetty draws the viewer into the scene, while the native foliage frames the river much as I experienced it on that memorable walk.
