About the Artist

Rachel paints landscapes and places in nature while there is a beautiful 'light' moment taking place. From National Parks and coastal beauty, to the captivating views of the sky and mountains from the back verandah of her home.

Rachel loves capturing those everyday moments in the landscape that are special and treasured. The shifting light across the sky, the ocean or landscape creates a special memory or moment to be treasured. Her recent paintings channel these feelings and emotions evoked by her experiences of natural landscapes.

Rachel enjoys capturing treasured moments in the landscape that are beautiful but also those everyday moments that bring true happiness. She believes the natural world rejuvenates and sustains us. Rachel paints abstract landscapes and the places she most frequently visit in nature is what inspires me to paint. From references of granite outcrops of Girraween National Park and the coastal beauty of Yuraygir, to the captivating views of the sky and mountains from the verandah of her home. Each painting is created through a process of layering paint and experimenting with composition, mark-making and the colour palette. I always seek to express an ephemeral sense of balance, depth and luminosity.
