Michael Jones

Michael's lifelong passion for painting was nurtured from an early age. His artistic journey deepened during a posting to Broken Hill. Born in Macclesfield, England in the mid-1950s, Michael Jones moved to Australia with his family in 1968. Though he later worked in construction and law enforcement, his lifelong passion for painting was nurtured from an early age. His artistic journey deepened during a posting to Broken Hill, where he connected with renowned outback artists such as Pro Hart, Clark Barrett, and Peter Browne. Painting on-site in remote stations and exploring nocturnes under the vast outback sky became defining elements of his practice. Today, Michael continues to create from his studio in Broken Hill, capturing the unique light and landscape of inland Australia with a distinct, expressive style.
