Jody Rigby
About the Artist
Jody Rigby, an emerging self taught Sydney artist, produces classic still life works with saturated hues and creates form with texture. With a passion for antiques and past career in horticulture, her work features utilitarian vessels and simple florals that would be at home in a country kitchen or moody hall. ‘I’ve always been fascinated with how we each see objectively through our eyes and how artists each interpret the same scenes differently, capturing different details . I look for a sheen or a shadow, not chasing perfection but use broader deliberate brushstrokes to suggest the weight of the subject matter and in turn give a lovely rustic tone to the work. I also like the a pop of rich colour among muddy values" Jody Rigby, an emerging self taught Sydney artist, produces classic still life works with saturated hues and creates form with texture.
